50+ WAR CRIMES

At least 3 war crimes have been committed daily since 7 October: Ethnic cleansing, collective punishment and genocide.

Here is a list of at least 50 recurring war crimes that await the day of reckoning:

1. Disrupting electricity by bombing civilian infrastructure including the targeting of transformers, power generators, fuel tanks, electrical cables and main transmission lines.

2. Severing of fibre cables, razing of cellular towers, restricting tech imports and bombing of telecoms infrastructure.

3. Withholding and restricting the entry of fuel, causing a irreparable ripple effect across hospitals, refugee camps, aid distribution and emergency services, affecting supply chain disruptions covering food, medical supplies and other essential goods.

4. Cutting off water supply, targeting water desalination plants, water distribution trucks, generators, waste collection vehicles, sewage networks and water pumps.

5. Bombing and bulldozing streets, carpet bombing agricultural lands and wanton destruction of civilian infrastructure including residential homes and offices.

6. Deliberate targeting of hospitals, churches and mosques.

7. Repeatedly striking protected sites and civilian infrastructure.

8. Erasing Palestinian culture, destroying universities, libraries, schools and archaeological sites.

9. Israel’s security forces tipping off Israeli settlers the location of the aid trucks delivering humanitarian aid supplies to Gaza, to help intercept and block the entry of aid into Gaza and purposefully blocking humanitarian aid from entering Gaza.

10. Allowing the flow of small amounts of aid while simultaneously threatening, attacking, and shooting at aid workers making delivering aid extremely dangerous. This results in delays or reductions in aid delivery, leading to food and supplies rotting and going to waste.

11. Using starvation as a method of war, causing death by starvation, dehydration and malnutrition.

12. Shooting civilians going after aid.

13. Opening fire at UN Convoys and other aid groups transporting aid in Gaza.

14. Bombing UNRWA and other known aid facilities, distribution centers, convoys and personnel.

15. Killing aid workers, journalists and medical professionals at an unprecedented rate, in violation of Article 79 of the additional Protocol 1 to the 1949 Geneva Conventions.

16. Destroying bulldozers and heavy equipment that can assist in aid recovery.

17. Bombing hospitals, health clinics and ambulances.

18. Using snipers to kill or further injure unarmed Palestinians trying to enter or flee hospitals.

19. Arresting and killing doctors and patients en masse.

20. Displacing civilians from one evacuation centre to another, sending people to safe areas and then bombing them.

21. Killing unarmed men and displaced civilians and undertaking field execution.

22. Killing women, children, the injured and elderly.

23. The indiscriminate use of explosive weapons in populated areas including Israeli tanks firing at Palestinians sheltering in tents.

24. Palestinians dead with many showing signs of torture.

25. Posting war crimes on TikTok, including and not limited to sniping civilians carrying white flags.

26. In Israeli jails, kidnaping and arresting family members in order to pressure wanted Palestinians to turn themselves in

27. Handcuffed and blindfolded, detaining and torturing doctors, engineers and journalists with dogs, electricity and severe beatings.

28. Keeping prisoners in humiliating conditions including prolonged blindfolding and restrained for long hours with handcuffs and legs tied, dousing prisoners with cold water, keeping them in barbed wire cages, stepping on their heads and backs, denying them food, water and subjecting them to loud music. From forced stripping to laceration of body parts, electrocution, systematic starvation, sleep deprivation, bathing and medical care, dog attacks, exposure to extreme cold to surgical operations without anaesthesia.

29. Palestinian prisoners forced to eat rice mixed with bird droppings, rotten legumes, toothpaste or soldiers split (Source: Metras)

30. Raping and sexually assaulting men and women held in Israeli prisons.

31. Video footage of Israeli soldiers forcing Palestinians taken as prisoners (human shields), searching for explosives inside tunnels with cameras mounted on their bodies to remote control their movement, tied to a rope.

32. Taking little action to investigate violation or to hold to account those responsible for significant civilian harm.

33. In the West Bank, sending undercover Israeli agents killing patients in a Jenin hospital (a protected site) in West Bank.

34. IDF spraying Palestinian homes with sewage or skunk water in West Bank.

35. Bombing, bulldozing and destroying roads and civilian infrastructure in West Bank.

36. Killing hundreds of Palestinian civilians in West Bank including women and children.

37. Blowing up homes of those accused of attacking Israeli soldiers or settlers.

38. Israeli soldiers going into people’s homes in the West Bank at night, arbitrarily taking over it and turning it into a military post, otherwise known as straw widow.

39. Internationally, bombing an embassy in a foreign country (violating the Vienna convention).

40. Killing a political representative involved in ceasefire negotiations in a foreign country, igniting the possibility of a wider regional war.

41. Implanting explosives in 3000+ electronic devices (pagers, radios, etc.,) in Lebanon and detonating it simultaneously in markets, homes, streets, etc.,) killing 37+ people including 2 children and hospitalising 3500 people. This is a violation of the protocol on booby traps and landmines and Israel is a party to that protocol.

42. Footage of Israeli soldiers pushing the body of a Palestinian youth they killed off the roof of a building in Wabatiya, Jenin south (September 2024)

43. Footage from an Israeli drone showing Israel dropped a bomb on an injured Palestinian in Khan Younis

44. It is a violation of international humanitarian law (IHL) if dead bodies of Palestinians are returned without information about their identities, ages, or the locations where they died. (Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions). The First Additional Protocol further emphasizes the duty to search for, recover, and identify the dead. When combined with other violations of humanitarian principles and actions, it could be deemed part of a broader pattern of war crimes.

45. Taking unilateral steps including retaliatory punitive measures against countries that recognise Palestine and initiating a new Israeli settlement for each country that did as well as withholding Palestinian Authority tax revenue, along with any funds belonging to the Palestinians.

46. Withholding and transferring US$35 million of funds collected for the Palestinian Authority to Israelis who lost family members on October 7 is nothing but state sponsored theft.

47. A helicopter stationed at the US-built aid pier built by the Americans was used to sneak in a military unit of American & Israeli soldiers using a humanitarian aid truck as cover to recover 4 Israeli hostages and kill 274 Palestinians at the Nuseirat refugee camp in June 2024. Perfidy is explicitly prohibited under Article 37 of the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, and is considered a war crime, let alone the killing of up to 274 Palestinians.

48. Israeli tanks firing on UN peacekeeping forces and observation posts (UNFIL) resulting in injuries of UNFIL personnel, is a violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime

49. Ethnic cleansing north Gaza is not just a moral crime but a legal one as well. In the words of the editorial at Haaretz, criminal law treats mass expulsions as both a war crime and a crime against humanity.

50. Everyone from media platforms, journalists, talking heads, policymakers to a large number of Western countries that supplied weapons to Israel – as it repeatedly ignored and violated one international legal ruling after another – is just as complicit.

The truth will find a way through the rubble.
